An intensive treatment was created to help people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) address walking, balance, and other activities of daily living.
The Lee Silverman Voice Treatment LOUD is a treatment used for speech disorders associated with Parkinson’s disease. LSVT BIG is a derivative of this treatment that is used for treating movement aspects of Parkinson’s disease.
The quick, explosive movements characteristic of LSVT BIG are aimed at reversing one of four cardinal movement symptoms.
LSVT BIG treatment consists of the following:
- 16 sessions
- 1 hour individual treatment times
- Daily homework
- Daily carryover exercises
